Over 100 million people in the US alone don't receive the care and support they need.

What We Built
Toko created a new model of care, widely endorsed by world-leading researchers and clinical professionals. Our breakthrough: we built on real human connection and real empathy, and used AI to amplify the connection, not replace it.
How does it work? We match two peers based on shared life experiences and personality for a shared emotional journey. At the core of the platform are weekly live sessions between the two peers, guided by an AI-powered engine, where they share, reflect, and learn practical tools and skills that help them improve their day-to-day lives and move toward what matters to them.

The Technical Challenge
Our technical challenge lies at the intersection of AI, ML-driven models, complex data structures, psychology, and crafted behavioral and emotional design.
Our core technical components: we're building proprietary ML-driven analysis of multimodal data that builds psychological profiles of individuals and relationships; an interconnected dynamic data modeling layer that represents these profiles; the first psychological protocol written as a graph, unlocking new capabilities for customization and optimization; and a real-time decision engine (the “brain”) that reads all signals and determines the next intervention.
We invest deeply in user experience: we're building a highly engaging, AI-generated video representation of the agent, and a multi-agent orchestrator with A2A capabilities that guides the journey and helps users stay on track.
In fact, we're building the first engine that leverages positive psychological mechanisms - real connection, meaningful conversation, and active learning - to win engagement, instead of relying on addictive patterns.
What We're Looking For
Proficiencies
Our product requires a wide set of technical and leadership experience. We don't expect you to be proficient in all of them. You need to be proficient in some, and open-minded and fast to learn the others:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep hands-on experience across the full stack: backend (Python / Node.js / TypeScript), frontend (React / Next.js), and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
- Strong experience with AI/ML in production - building, deploying, and integrating LLMs, AI agents, multi-agent systems, and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience architecting and scaling complex, data-intensive systems.
- Experience designing and managing data infrastructure and pipelines (cloud data stores, e.g., MongoDB; ETL/streaming).
- Significant advantage: hands-on track record of building consumer products with multimodal data, graph data structures, state machines, or ML-based models.
